Nashvillians Earn Most Money in State; Federal Agency Says Average per Capita Income Increased 5 Percent in 2006 (Tennessean, 08/08/07)
"Per capita income is a useful measure of a region's financial health, said David Penn, director of the Business and Economic Research Center at Middle Tennessee State University. 'It tells you a lot about the economic mood of a city, the sense of well-being that people have in their homes,' Penn said. 'If income is growing strongly around the state, that collectively gives us less reason to worry about our jobs and more reason to feel comfortable buying that big-ticket item,' such as a car or refrigerator, he said." "Permits for single-family homes have fallen 21 percent in the 13-county Nashville metro area since last year, according to the latest figures from the Census Bureau and Middle Tennessee State University's Business and Economic Research Center. Tennessee Insurance Hall of Fame

Dr. Kenneth Hollman, chairholder, Tommy Martin Chair of Insurance, was inducted into the Robert E. Musto Tennessee Insurance Hall of Fame last night at the Franklin Marriott in Cool Springs. The two other inductees were Edwin W. Craig and John A. Spann, Jr., both deceased.

From MTSU's Today's Response: "Inductee Dr. Kenneth W. Hollman ... serves as a mentor to aspiring insurance professionals and is a resource person for the industry. Edwin Craig joined the National Life & Accident Insurance Company in Nashville, played a role in the company’s decision to enter broadcasting, and was instrumental in launching the Grand Ole Opry. The late John Spann was twice honored as Professional Insurance Agents of Tennessee’s Agent of the Year, serving as the organization’s vice president and president."
