Unemployment Rate Leaps to 6.1%

From the Tennessean Sept. 6, 2008 (complete article): "David Penn, an economist with Middle Tennessee State University, said the local economic outlook depends on what happens with the real estate and auto sectors. 'If we can get those sectors moving again, we'll be doing a lot better than the nation. . . . We have a diversified economy — still, when the auto sector gets hit as hard as it's been, we're bound to get more of a negative impact than other parts of the country.'"
